At The Alembic, a nonprofit bodymind center dedicated to transformative experiments in Berkeley, CA, ancient traditions are merged with modern techniques to provide various skillful methods for exploring, integrating, and transforming our experiences with the world and the mysteries of our consciousness.
In the workshop "Energizing Your Nine Bodies: An Exploration of Ancient Egyptian Myth-Science," we explored the extremely subtle maps of the human personality developed by the “myth-scientists” of ancient Egypt over 3,000 years. These sacred anatomies begin with the idea that humans are multi-dimensional beings composed of a plethora of spiritualized components, such as the khat (physical body), shhuut (energy body), ka (emotional body, inner child), ab (mental body), udjat (imagination body, shamanic eye), ren (name, ancestral body), shakhum (power body), khu (omniscient body), and ba (immortal, androgynous body).
Using guided meditations and hieroglyphics as shamanic tools, attendees were provided rituals designed to energize and activate these nine bodies and discussed how to integrate these practices into their own spiritual journeys. This workshop was an invitation to delve into the cognitive complexity, wisdom, and aesthetic splendor of the ancient Egyptian tradition, with an offering of illuminating techniques for manifestation, empowerment, transformation, vitality, and expanded consciousness.
